EOTO Response

I've chosen to talk about Bonnie Ni's presentation on the personal computer and Janie McDowell's presentation on motion pictures. I loved Bonnie's post for several reasons. First, the way she organized the whole thing was excellent. She started and ended with the importance and impact that PC's have in our world and included the main info about them in the middle. She mentioned the key role that microprocessors play and defined what a PC actually is.

Second, I liked how she started off talking about what society was like before the invention of the PC. She described how all computers used to be massive, bulky, expensive, and generally only used by the military. Bonnie then went into the creation of the first PC, mentioning the important role that Apple played. This role included making the first personal computer as well as the mouse.

Finally, the end of Bonnie's presentation about the personal computer mentions a few things that the PC drastically changed. Taxes and entertainment are just a couple examples. She then brought up modern day examples of the PC in use. Virtually everything employs the use of computers now.

Janie's presentation was full of fascinating information. She started by telling listeners about the history of motion pictures, starting in the late 19th century. She briefly touched on the technical workings of motion pictures and then went into the role Louis Le Prince, one of the founding fathers played.

Janie went on to describe the evolution of motion pictures throughout the ages, mentioning a few famous films such as "The Jazz Singer", "Gone with the Wind", and "Schindler's List". She ended her presentation by bringing up the impact that motion pictures have had on society. From learning about various cultures to connecting with those different from oneself, films bring all sorts of people together.
